System Engineer

Description:

We are seeking an energetic individual to work full-time in our Client Facing Infrastructure team as an IT System Engineer. The position requires someone with 3+ years of IT system engineer experience.  They will be responsible for implementing, administering and monitoring the high availability production server and application environments of a global SaaS provider.  Detail oriented individual who is self-motivated and takes responsibility very seriously that can be trusted to have root and administrative IT access to production servers and virtual machines is required.

The ideal candidate will be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and have a collaborative approach to complex problem solving with a positive can-do attitude. You must be reliable, proactive, and maintain composure under pressure. You must possess strong communication skills, ability to transfer information clearly and use discretion to escalate the most urgent issues.

Responsibilities:

·         Define, design, implement, test and modify computer systems containing software as the main component

·         Providing exceptional IT Services to TransPerfect technology groups.

·         Responding to support requests on a daily basis mainly access request, troubleshooting, system configuration

·         Monitor/Respond to all Nagios/Zabbix critical alerts and be proactive to avoid repeated alerts.

·         Develop, maintain and document installation and configuration procedures.

·         Willing to periodically be on-call during off hours

Qualifications   

·         Good knowledge of Redhat Linux and variants such as CentOS/Rocky/Alma

·         Experience with Virtualization, specifically VMWare ESXi

·         Understanding of fundamental protocols such as HTTP, LDAP, SMTP, FTP and SNMP

·         Experience with system monitoring tools such as Nagios/Zabbix

·         Good documenting skills

·         Good understanding of Linux command line tools

·         Good troubleshooting skills

·         Experience with MySQL and/or MariaDB is a plus

·         Experience with docker a plus

·         Experience with Elasticsearch a plus

·         Experience with Ansible and any scripting languages is ideal (shell/python/perl)

·         Strong analytical skills

·         B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
