Remote Spanish(Spain) Linguist in Spain

Work Location: Spain (Remote/Work from home)   

Engagement Model: Permanent discontinuous employment contract; Full-time

DataForce by TransPerfect is seeking a Linguist with idiomatic fluency in Spanish (Spain) to join our team in Spain, working remotely on data curation and evaluation.

Role Summary  

As a Linguist, you will curate and evaluate linguistic data, review outputs from speech models, and annotate audio data. You will also provide feedback based on data analysis.  

Role Responsibilities:  

• Curate and evaluate linguistic data with accuracy and attention to detail 

• Proofread (e.g. audio scripts) and proof-listen audio data (e.g. recorded speech) for accuracy, pronunciation, and expressiveness 

• Annotate and label audio data as needed to ensure quality and consistency 

• Review and assess outputs generated by speech models  

• Execute scripts via command line for task automation or data handling (running, not developing)  

• Provide feedback and draw conclusions based on the analyzed data  

• Collaborate with the team to continuously improve data quality and task processes 

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Linguistics  

• Strong understanding of core linguistic concepts such as phonetics, syntax, semantics, and morphology  

• Understanding of phonetic transcription (e.g., IPA) or experience with audio and linguistic annotation is a significant advantage 

• Idiomatic fluency in Spanish (Spain) 

• Advanced fluency in English 

• Proficiency in an additional language (such as Italian, French, etc.) is a plus  

• Previous experience in similar tasks such as data curation, linguistic evaluation, or phoneme labeling is a plus  

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and critical thinking skills  

• Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently  

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
