Position summary:

The Linguistic Quality Assurance (LQA) Specialist is part of our team dedicated to managing projects with content related to Medical Device Solutions.

They are responsible for actively supporting Project Managers, Production Coordinators, Client Services and Quoters with Linguistic Quality Assurance support on requests and projects. In this capacity, the LQA Specialist provides professional input throughout the project life cycle, including process strategy, cost and time estimates, production risks, process efficiencies, and resource selection, and is actively engaged in quality control activities that ensure linguistic quality for projects and accounts.

Position responsibilities:

  • Evaluate project specifications and formulate efficient and risk-appropriate QA strategies for projects and accounts in accordance with internal procedures and client requirements

  • Advise on resource selection and implementation of linguistic quality control steps

  • Analyze linguistic risks and develop guidelines for Linguists (including generating Linguistic Risk Analysis reports)

  • Develop and maintain lexicons/glossaries and other relevant material (style guides, linguistic protocols, guidelines, and other linguistic assets) as designated by the project specifications

  • Manage linguistic quality control activities, such as in-country review (ICR) reconciliation and linguistic query resolutions

  • Resolve questions from Translators, Editors, and Back-Editors throughout the project lifecycle

  • Manage cross-referencing of Translator implementation of Back-Edit LQA findings

  • Review and consolidate LQA findings across multiple languages

  • Support Project Managers in the development and maintenance of Translation

  • Continually re-evaluate and optimize processes for efficient Quality Management

  • Develop best practices and promote continual improvement in anchor accounts

  • Contribute actively to LQA practice development in collaboration with LQA team, and through assigned development tasks and projects

  • Assign Linguistic Risk Analysis (LRA) or LQA tasks to approved resources

  • Perform regular, scheduled Quality audits

  • Actively work with LQA Team Lead on the development of LQA practices and processes to increase functional area efficiency, effectiveness, and to improve quality

  • Support Compliance Reports’ investigations and implementation of Corrective Actions

Job requirements

Essential skills required: 

  • Native or near-native proficiency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Native or near-native proficiency in at least one of the major EU languages (specifically, reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary)

  • Ability and willingness to acquire related language knowledge with limited formal training

  • Ability to negotiate priorities, schedule projects, and organize workload to effectively meet internal commitments

  • Computer literate, with high proficiency in MS Word and Excel

  • Excellent command of internet search techniques

  • Collaborate well with people from a variety of different backgrounds and cultures

  • Work as part of a team, build relationships with co-workers, proactively resolve issues, and commit to a high level of service

Essential experience and qualifications: 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a corporate environment

  • Translation experience (ideally as a Linguist doing into English translation work)

Desired skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of additional languages at professional working proficiency
