What You Will Be Doing

Position Summary:

Senior Linguists prioritize linguistic tasks for various clients and departments, depending on Production needs and in accordance with their subject matter expertise. Their linguistic skills are certified as part of the hiring process. A Senior Linguist is an expert-level specialist in their vertical, and can handle any linguistic task on any and all file types within the vertical area they are specialized. A Senior Linguist is also responsible for at least one ‘VIP’ account, and has a documented experience of providing successful training to other linguists on specific technology, material type, project type, or process.

Description:

• Understand TransPerfect’s quality standards and ensures they are upheld to meet client expectations

• Manage their schedule fully and independently and escalate concerns to their manager effectively and in a timely manner

• Easily navigate among company resources, including but not limited to, Confluence, Launchpad, technology, etc.

• Fully proficient in data analytics related to their personal linguistic performance, data related to identifying LQR candidates, areas for improvement of further training in the linguist pool for their vertical, etc.

• Handle training/ LQRs of 4-6 linguists annually

• Represent TransPerfect externally (in client meetings/calls, with freelancers, at conferences, while volunteering, on social media etc.)

• Perform all linguistic tasks according to project specifications, including but not limited to project instructions, reference materials, language assets (translation memory, glossary, style guide, etc.)

• Seamlessly communicate challenges and solutions to project-level stakeholders across production teams

• Work in tandem with management as a leader to uphold and exemplify the values, mentality, and business objectives within and outside of their team

• Take part in, or, leads calls and meetings with production, sales, and clients as needed  Follow internal and client processes on all projects

• Participate in the training of new team members when needed

• Work under minimal supervision of the Team Lead

• Achieve/surpass quality and efficiency targets as set by manager/supervisor

• Be responsible for at least one dedicated “VIP” client within their vertical and successfully hit goals around working with production/sales/clients on maintaining language assets, handling revisions, driving KPI targets

• Proactively identify areas for improvement and come up with effective action items around them

• Complete all other tasks that are deemed appropriate for this role and assigned by the manager/supervisor

Who We Are Looking For

• Fully knowledgeable and graduated all trainings required for Internal Linguists, including but not limited to their subject matter certification, Linguistic Quality Reviews (LQRs), tech tools, TPT production processes, and Quality Assurance processes

• Be flexible with changes of priorities and adaptive to a fast-paced work environment, including being open to align with Production and team needs and urgencies

• Be solutions-oriented

• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English in addition to working languages

• Cultural knowledge in both target and source language(s)

• Flexibility and adaptability to the different assignments and tasks using the relevant skills and tools in each case (accuracy, creativity, terminology adequacy, etc.)

• Ability to effectively multitask in order to simultaneously execute multiple projects

• Organizational skills, ability to prioritize, results-oriented, self-motivated

• Ability to maintain professionalism and focus under pressure and tight deadlines

• Exceptional problem solving/critical thinking skills

• Ability to work independently

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent

• Minimum 4 years’ TPT or industry experience

• Must have successfully passed the Internal Linguistic testing in line with TransPerfect’s TLC program.
