Job description
Role Summary
The Director of Content Strategy is both a hands-on content creator and a strategic leader responsible for setting the direction, roadmap, and execution framework for content across the company’s global, multi-industry portfolio. This role ensures that content is the engine of marketing performance, connecting corporate and product/solution messaging to measurable outcomes in SEO, SEM, media, PR, and AIO.
This leader will guide the strategy, governance, and measurement of all content efforts while rolling up their sleeves to write, edit, and refine high-impact content. Their charter extends to corporate and product video frameworks, social media guidance, and event playbooks. The ultimate purpose of this role is to establish effective, systematic, and cohesive top-down content strategy and execution that fuels growth and share of voice.
Global Strategy & Planning
Develop and champion a unified global content strategy aligned to corporate goals, product/solution priorities, and regional marketing needs.
Drive both corporate and product/solution SEO and SEM strategies, ensuring content is discoverable and optimized across search engines and AI-driven discovery platforms.
Lead media and PR strategy focused on share of voice and third-party validation, including AIO/Answer Engine Optimization.
Establish content themes, pillars, and messaging frameworks scalable across industries and product lines.
Own the editorial calendar and roadmap, ensuring delivery of high-quality assets (case studies, whitepapers, blogs, reports, webinars, video, etc.) for all buyer journey stages.
Content Governance & Execution
Define and enforce content governance standards, including brand voice, tone, and compliance.
Write and edit copy across multiple formats while leading a team in scaling production.
Provide frameworks for corporate and product/solution video content, including scripts, storyboards, and guidelines.
Establish playbooks for pre- and post-event content strategy, ensuring teams systematically capture and repurpose insights from panels, presentations, and events.
Provide direction for social media content and strategy to ensure alignment with overarching brand goals.
Performance & Measurement
Define KPIs for content performance (organic traffic, share of voice, MQL-to-SQL conversion, engagement metrics).
Build dashboards to track performance across SEO, SEM, PR/media, and social channels.
Use data to optimize assets, double down on successful formats, and refine strategy.
Demonstrate clear ROI for content investments, balancing resources across corporate, product, and solution-level needs.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of content specialists organized by industry verticals or product lines.
Balance hands-on content creation with people management and strategic leadership.
Manage agency and freelancer relationships to extend content capacity as needed.
Foster a culture of experimentation, quality, and accountability.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Serve as the content evangelist across the organization, partnering with executive leadership, product marketing, sales enablement, and regional marketing.
Align content strategy with go-to-market priorities and campaign execution.
Collaborate with demand gen, digital, and PR/media functions to ensure consistent and impactful messaging.
