Job description

Project Overview:
We are seeking a native English linguist with strong Mandarin Chinese proficiency to support a game localization project. The role involves translation, revision, linguistic QA, and narrative adaptation for in-game content, UI text, marketing copy, and dialogue.

This is a 3-month assignment with a strong possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate game content from Chinese into English, including in-game text, UI strings, and marketing materials

  • Review and revise translated content to ensure accuracy, fluency, consistency, and natural style

  • Adapt narrative and dialogue to make them engaging and suitable for English-speaking players

  • Conduct linguistic QA to identify and correct grammar, terminology, punctuation, and formatting issues

  • Maintain the tone, voice, and intent of the original content while adapting it for cultural relevance

  • Provide linguistic input during creative discussions and narrative development

  • Collaborate with the localization and project management teams to meet deadlines and quality standards

Working Arrangements:

  • Duration: 3 months, with a strong possibility of extension

  • Working Hours: APAC business hours, 8 hours/day, Monday to Friday

  • Location: Onsite in Minhang, Shanghai, China

  • Remote candidates who can work during Chinese business hours may also be considered

Job requirements

Requirements:

  • Native-level English speaker with fluent Mandarin Chinese

  • 2+ years of experience in game localization or translation

  • Strong understanding of Chinese culture and the ability to localize cultural references appropriately

  • Familiarity with localization tools and content management systems preferred

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong writing/editing skills

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Passion for gaming, especially mobile games

  • Degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field is a plus
