Summary

Associate Localization Engineers (Associate LEs) are technically skilled individuals with a desire to both troubleshoot and create solutions for technical production issues including file preparation, Translation Memory management, script development for data manipulation, and defining strategies for project executions.

The Associate Localization Engineer is a team player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment, working alongside our Localization Engineers and Technology Project Managers to develop creative solutions for handling complicated files and workflows. They are self-motivated to learn and become experts in localization and our company’s technology products.

 

Description

  • Provide daily, project-based technical support to Production and Sales, under guidance from senior team members

  • Assist Project Managers and Linguists in troubleshooting issues related to the translation process

  • Interface and coordinate with Sales and Client Services (CS) to provide input on pre-sale planning and quoting of projects, with support from Senior Engineers

  • Prepare various file types for the localization process to ensure compliance with client requirements

  • Automate file analysis, parsing, and filtering

  • Perform QA on translated files

  • Manage and manipulate Translation Memories (TMs)

  • Help validate new features in our CAT tool, TM Server, Analysis Package, and other products, in collaboration with senior team members

  • Write scripts and/or macros in various programming languages to automate repetitive tasks performed by Project Managers, as necessary

  • Work closely with software Product Managers to report and test fixes for bugs found by product users

  • Complete all other tasks that are deemed appropriate for this role and assigned by the manager/supervisor

Job requirements

Required Skills

  • Fluency in English

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent

  • Knowledge of computer, scripting, and markup languages including (but not necessarily all of) Python, VB, VBA, C++, Perl, ASP, Java, JSP, XML, HTML, XLIFF

  • High level of proficiency in Windows platform

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe software

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Team player attitude

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Avid curiosity and desire to improve processes
